The time to prepare your home for colder months is here! The most important rule for frost free hosebib’s to work as designed, is to make sure the garden hose is never left attached to the spigot during freezing temperatures. An attached garden hose will not allow the water to escape the “barrel” and could cause the pipe to freeze and burst. A traditional style “silcock” hosebib must be turned off inside the home and opened on the outside, to allow the water to escape the areas of piping that can be compromised due to freezing conditions.
If you struggle with any outdoor faucet problems, please remember all of us here at Appleton Campbell are happy and eager to help!
Does this taste right to you? What’s that funny smell in the water? If you live in a location where your water is supplied by your town, city, county, or a shared well, you may have heard or even asked these questions before. Water suppliers do an excellent job of making sure your water is safe to drink, cook and clean with by adding Chlorine to protect your water supply from harmful bacteria. What you may not know is that the Chlorine smell can be removed from your water and we offer many ways to do it! Some of the options that we offer include a periodic filter change and others have zero maintenance what so ever!
At Appleton Campbell we pride ourselves on understanding the ways you and your family use your water.
Have you ever heard anyone say, “these new toilets sure don’t flush like the old ones.”? For a long time that was very true! Older toilets would flush well because of the volume of water per flush, around 3.5 gallons! New toilets are made to use 1.6 gallons per flush to conserve water. So how do you get just as good of a flush with half the water? You increase the speed of the water going from the toilet tank to the bowl. The Toto Drake toilet (our best seller) is a great example of this, having an oversized flush valve that makes for an extremely fast and powerful flush. Call us today to flush “new toilet rumors” down the drain.

No one likes having things weigh on them. Especially your electrical outlets. When a plug enters an electrical outlet the plug is held in place be a spring loaded clamps that pinches the connections on the plug. Springs wear out and become less effective at holding the plug in place over time. Heavy items like a plug in air freshener will cause the spring to wear out much quicker than they would under normal use. Have an outlet that plugs almost seam to fall out of? It is highly recommended that plug not be used until it can be replaced. Loose electrical connection cause the electricity to “arch” inside the plug and arching causes heat. Although some electrical outlets can last much longer, they should be replace every 15-25 under normal use.
Thank you for keeping us cool with window A/C units as we waited for our installation during this really hot weather. We are very happy with our new unit and the wonderful team that made it happen.

My A.C. went down at 2:00 on a Friday with temps in the 90’s. Appleton Campbell sent someone out right away to assess the work needed. The repairs could not be made until Monday but they brought me 2 window unit air conditioners to keep my dogs and I cool over the weekend. So kind!
